Jeypore has been witnessing severe rains this year. As compared to last year; Jeypore has witnessed 50% more rain. As per the govt website, so far Jeypore has got 1290mm of rain in 2022 compared to 804mm of rain in 2021 from June- August month. This figure was 701mm in 2020.

Let’s look at the month-wise rain fall data. So far in August; Jeypore has already received 563mm of rain which is almost 4 times the amount of rain it received in the same period last year(141mm).

Jeypore also witnessed heavy rainfall in July 2022 when the rainfall figure was 606mm which was almost twice as much rain compared to 2021 when it received rainfall of 344mm.

Because of heavy rains; low line areas of Jeypore were severely inundated with water multiple times causing damage to many homeowners. Residents of Parabeda, Powerhouse colony, Jayangar have reported damage to their properties because of water entering their houses during the rains.
